However, the joy of hosting friends and family at home often means too much food and not enough space in your fridge.
To help people prepare for a busy season of hosting, Gino Grossi, Head of Brand Marketing for Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics UK shares four tips to keep your fridge cool and your food safe to eat this BBQ season and well beyond the warm months of garden parties ahead.
Over-packing is one of the most common causes of fridge performance issues, according to our customer support teams. We recommend filling your fridge to no more than two-thirds of its capacity to help with air circulation, as over-packing your shelves can block air vents that keep your fridge cool, which over time can lead to expensive repairs.
If your household needs more storage, look out for models that maximise the capacity without taking up more space in your kitchen. All Samsung fridges feature SpaceMaxTM technology, which means the walls are thinner but have higher insulation creating more space inside. This means you can store up to three more bags of groceries[1] without compromising on performance or space in your kitchen.

If your fridge has a water or ice dispenser, you may not know that its filter needs changing regularly. Do this every six months to avoid mould and bacteria heading straight from the dispenser into your ice-cold drink.
There are some tell-tale signs it’s time to change your filter, such as a change in the taste or smell of the water or unusual sediment. Samsung appliances have a filter warning system that flashes red and alarms when the filter needs changing. Next, locate your filter via the fridge manual (here for Samsung appliances) and check the model number. You can buy replacements online – once you’ve changed the filter, dispense several litres of water to remove any air from the system.

Dirty door seals are another common yet easily fixable reason why fridges don’t cool well. Dirty seals can cause gaps large enough to let in warm air. If you notice dirty seals or frost build up around the gasket, clean them immediately and allow up to 24 hours for your fridge to regain proper temperature.
